During a show in Tempe, Arizona, standup comedian Heather McDonald collapsed on stage Saturday night.
The 51 year old star went on social media to speak on the incident while in the hospital.
Her Instagram story addresses concerned fans on the night of Feb. 5.
“So, I’m in the emergency room, I look weird,” she began. “Oh my God, I’m so, so, so, so sorry.”
McDonald went on to explain that she passed out on stage.
“I got up, I did one joke and I felt so dizzy,” McDonald recalled. “You can see my eye, I fell on my eye. Oh my God, I cannot believe this happened, I feel so terrible that they had to tell everyone to leave and then cancel the second show.”
The star insisted that she’ll return to Tempe in the future.
“I’ve never, ever fainted in my life,” she said.
The star’s reps told Phoenix’s NBC outlet that she “may have lost consciousness because of dehydration” and suffered a skull fracture from the fall.
Her management claimed that she might be released later today when talking to a reporter on Sunday. She added that McDonald tested negative for coronavirus.
Witnesses at the show said that McDonald had just finished telling a joke about coronavirus vaccines and how she was triple vaccinated. Then suddenly she collapsed and the audience thought it was part of the act.
When people realized it was not part of the act, two medical professionals who were there to see the show, offered assistance on stage.
McDonald said her sister-in-law, who was in the audience, took her to the hospital. She underwent various tests and a CT scan. They still have not figured out the exact cause of her fainting. She said, “My head still hurts and I feel extremely tired.”
