We all see homeless people when we are out and about doing our daily schedules. Sometimes we donate a couple dollars or give them food to try and help them.
However, one woman is now regretting her decision, after trying to do a good deed and help a local homeless man.
Officials from the Salt Lake City Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect accused of slitting a woman’s throat inside her apartment.
According to police, 30-year-old Eric Jones was arrested early Saturday morning by patrol officers near 130 South 500 East.
The incident happened last Sunday at an apartment near 850 South West Temple Street when a woman was found by neighbors with bleeding heavily from her neck.
She was immediately transported to the hospital in critical condition.
“During the investigation, the victim told SLCPD she let the suspect inside her residence so he could shower. The woman described the suspect as being homeless,” a news release stated.
Police described the incident as a “random attack.”
Jones was booked into jail on a charge of aggravated assault. His arrest report was not publicly available Saturday morning.
The woman’s neighbors stated, “It’s sad that a good deed can go so wrong. It makes you not want to help when you see someone struggling out in the world. We hope she will be okay. She was a good woman and definitely didn’t deserve what happened.”
In these very Uncertain times and with lots of the street people turning drastic due to riots and random killings, I would think that handing over some money or the use of a Water-hose, towel and a bar of soap would have been the smarter thing to do! Perhaps even give them some fresh clothing and a sandwich then send them on their way.. But, inviting a Homeless person into your home to actually Get Naked and take a shower is not something on the top of the Good Deed List !
Somehow, I think there is much more to this story then were reading. . . .
