A Las Vegas woman was sentenced to eight to 20 years in prison Friday in the death of a 74-year-old man she shoved out the door of a bus in 2019.
Last month, Cadesha Bishop, 28, pleaded guilty to abuse of an older vulnerable person resulting in substantial bodily harm or death. She had originally been charged with murder.
“I’m sorry for my behavior,” Bishop told the judge Friday while complaining about her portrayal in the media.
“I’m sorry for the way that I was portrayed in my lowest and weakest moment of my life,” she said. “The way that I’ve been portrayed, it’s just not fair for somebody who’s never been in trouble before.”
Authorities say Bishop pushed Serge Fournier, 74, off a public bus on March 21, 2019, causing him to hit his head on the sidewalk about eight feet from the door. Before she pushed him, Fournier had reportedly asked Bishop to be “nice to the passengers.” Witnesses said she had been swearing and yelling at other riders, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
She pushed him with both hands “with enough force that he never touched any of the steps,” an arrest report said.
Bishop had posted $100,000 bail on the murder charge but had it revoked last July when she was charged with grand larceny of a vehicle, embezzlement and theft for allegedly failing to return a rental car.
The charges will be dismissed as part of her plea deal in the Fournier case.
They should push this bitch out the door of a bus moving at 60 mph .
I understand your anger, but does the 8th Amendment ring any bells?
As a retired lawyer with extensive appellate experience, including on constitutional issues, the 8th Amendment does “ring a bell”. NOW, tell me where, therein, “Recce”, it DEFINES what is “excessive bail” or what is “cruel and unusual punishment”. Whether one seeks the answer in the law or the Bible or, for that matter, Gilbert and Sullivan, the law for several millennia has been “let the punishment fit the crime”. SO, let’s see, the individual in question is clearly guilty of the act which killed this chap. It was deliberate, not accidental. Physical harm was intended and utterly foreseeable. She acted in the course of committing several other crimes and, btw, she has continued to demonstrate her contempt for both the law and societal norms. SO, in what fashion would “pushing her off a bus” under circumstances likely to cause her physical injury be “cruel or unusual”? In fact, not only would it be fitting and appropriate, but it would be consistent with legal practices and societal notions of morality which far antedate the Constitution and which therefore inform its interpretation. Put simply, pushing this vicious b***h off a moving bus presents NO issue under the 8th Amendment unless you somehow believe that your own squeamishness defines morality.
I think that if punishment of offenders was the same as what they did to their victims. there would be less people committing violence to others. In other words, if one decapitates a victim. their punishment would be decapitation.
One question! What’s with giving her a plea deal?
I just don’t get it!! She’s shown what a low life piece of work she is. She deserves the Murder charge, and certainly shouldn’t have her record of grand theft and embezzlement removed from her record…added to what she did to an old guy who simply asked her to be kind!! Give me a break, this type of behavior must be stopped and be prosecuted to the limits of the law!
When did our court system loose it’s conscience? We need Conservative Judges NOW!
Our court system was sketchy to start with, but with the dems “winning” the election, it has proceeded to go all to hell. We’ve got to…GOT to, replace the dems in charge, prosecutors, governors, mayors, and as many congress people as we can. And, for what it’s worth, some of them need jail time.
This is not a political issue. This was the decision of the court. If you have a beef, then you need to direct it to the legal system, not the political system. It does sound like she got off easy, but we didn’t hear all the details in court.
Sorry, it IS a political issue. In many jurisdictions the elected politicians appoint the prosecutors and judges. In some they’re elected.
These are all George Soros appointees and the corrupt system.
Unspeakable meanness resulting in a loss of life and no murder charge, unbelievable! No mention of it being a hate crime either, why? Had it been the other way around it would have been a hate crime! Our judicial system need not be called such because there is no justice here! Until we start punishing harshly for crimes like this, we will continue to decline in safety for the majority. Call it what it is and quit softening everything! A persons death at your hands is murder woman, and the pity does not belong to you for your actions being told in the media!
Cindy, you are 100% correct.
another way around and the news would be full for weeks.”hate Crime”
she needs to be put away forever.
So sad. I hope she stays in prison till she is 74 and she takes a “bus” home from prison and someone gives her a “shove” out the door. Justice served.
Why did it take 3 years for Mr. Fournier to get justice?
This is typical black behavior…. I’ve never been in trouble before & look at the long list of crimes she has committed prior to killing this innocent man. It was a hate crime, but, remember, there’s a set of rules of hate that are very, very different for the blacks. Hell is always for the white’s & it’s always a hate crime. This people are going to hell for their evil ways. That sweet man didn’t deserve any of that.. Another typical… Always blowing off their big, brutal mouths, infringing on everyone else.
Regardless if it’s political or not. The lady in question has no right to be swearing at anyone, especially at older folks. She has to remember that a great number of us older people are hard of hearing and her screaming in their ears aren’t going to help. She shoved an old man so hard that he flew over the steps, landed on the curb, and was injured.
Then the defendant stated she was sorry. Received a plea deal that dropped at least three charges. Why? She killed an old man, says I’m sorry and got less time than a politician who stole a bank or something. Why was she even given a plea deal? And why did the Judge accept it? Beg the lady used her race card, like most of them do and got off eight years, but what did the old man get, dead. Not right. In fact the attorneys should go to prison, along with the defendant, because they didn’t do what was right for the old man.
It’s amazing I posted something on this topic and was taken down why do we have to get censored for speaking the truth unreal no foul language or any racist words were said what the heck is going on.
