The threads of life are almost wearing thin for a NYPd detective, who shot himself inside his Queens home on Sunday evening.
The 28-year-old officer, who was off duty, suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head inside his home on Beach 139th Street near Beach Channel Drive in Belle Harbor around 11:30 p.m.
As of Monday morning, the officer was still listed in critical condition at Kings County Hospital Center.
The officer, who works in Manhattan, is in “bad shape,” a union official said.
Evidence is being collected at this time and the police have no crucial evidence pointing to why the officer decided to shoot himself.
Due to the young man being a part of the police force, they are keeping his identity unknown at this time.
Mental health seems to be a forever inclining issue in the U.S. at this time. Many are suffering and unable to reach out for help or display any signs that something is wrong.
If you are struggling with suicidal thoughts or are experiencing a mental health crisis and live in New York City, you can call 1-888-NYC-WELL for free and confidential crisis counseling.
