An American Airlines flight was forced to make an urgent return to Miami International Airport on Wednesday night after a passenger’s carry-on bag caused a worrying chemical odor.
Just before 9 p.m. local time, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units were dispatched to the airport after an “issue” onboard the aircraft traveling to Barbados.
172 passengers and 6 crew members returned to MIA due to a chemical odor invading the cabin from a passenger’s carry-on luggage.
An American Airlines spokesperson said,
“The aircraft landed safely and without incident, and customers deplaned normally. All customers were offered hotel accommodations and the flight is now scheduled to redepart tomorrow at 9 a.m.”
Some crew members were left feeling sick as a result of the odor and had to be taken to the hospital “out of an abundance of caution,” according to the airline.
Once the flight landed, American Airlines Flight 338 was taken to the penalty box to be safely searched.
“Upon arrival, fire crews remained on standby as the aircraft landed without incident,” a spokesperson for the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Service said. “HazMat units performed a hazard assessment due to reports of a strong chemical smell inside the plane. Firefighters began patient assessment and, out of precaution, five patients were transported to a local-area hospital. The remaining passengers were taken to buses for terminal transport.”
maybe that passenger should be put on a no-fly list, that is ridiculous.
So all of that and they didn’t say what was causing the odor. Surely they checked it out…right?
It must be something that if aknowledged would be detrimental to Democrats, that’s the only possible reason why the story shuts down.
When you’re a fanatic, it’s possible to politicize everything every time. Looks like Putin got another one, comrade.
So what chemical was in the bag causing the odor? Finish what you start, would you. Please.
Most Likely someone let loose with the fart spray. I had some powerful stuff that would clear a room.
Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … the smell was coming from a large, industrial-strength bottle of nail polish — it somehow made it through TSA and spilled in the passenger’s bag. We’re told the woman isn’t in any trouble.
It was a pair of crusty drawers
Then TSA and the airport should be held accountable as well as the one who knowingly took it in her bag.
