A St. Cloud, Minnesota man was arrested for second-degree murder after shooting and killing his co-worker.
Michael Carpenter, 36, was charged in connection with the death of 28-year-old Nicole Hammond.
Authorities said, “Hammond repeatedly rejected Carpenter’s advances and it turned ugly.”
The night before Hammond was killed, text messages indicated she told Carpenter that “she did not want to be touched or manipulated by him.”
She’d spent the previous month repeatedly rejecting his advances.
Coworkers testified to St. Cloud Police that Carpenter made several unwanted passes toward Hammond, but her boss claims nothing was reported to management.
“Unfortunately, we had no idea,” Hammond’s boss Rob Dubow said. “Any time there is anything that requires our intervention we step in. But in this case we had no indication that there was anything awry.”
“”Nicole always had a smile on her face, and anybody who had any association with her couldn’t help but like her,” Dubow said.
At about 7 a.m. on Oct. 24, police responded to a shooting and found Hammond lying in the parking lot near her car with a pool of blood around her head. Nearby were her keys and phone. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two witnesses, also employees of the textile business, told police they saw Carpenter in the parking lot.
One witness saw Carpenter near his car, which had the front and rear driver’s side doors ajar; the other witness said they saw Carpenter leave his vehicle, then heard a gunshot and saw Carpenter jog back to his car and drive away.
Carpenter was arrested a few hours later at an apartment in Sauk Rapids. Investigators found a 9-mm pistol and loaded magazine in a case on the rear seat of Carpenter’s car. The style and brand of bullets matched the shell casing at the scene
“A handgun was recovered as the result of the arrest,” police stated.
Carpenter is currently being held at the Benton County Jail and has not been arraigned.
According to the state court system, Carpenter’s only previous conviction in Minnesota was for a 2013 misdemeanor for an expired registration.
At Carpenter’s first court appearance Wednesday, a judge set bail at $4 million. His next hearing is Nov. 8.
Why wasn’t he charged with murder? Murder is when you catch someone unawares and kill them. He should get death penalty but he won’t cause people are stupid. This will keep on happening until we as a nation do not as bide by the killing of anyone, any age, for any reason.
You are right, it was definitely premeditated murder and planned out precisely. If the defense can prove that he did go to confront her but then decided to murder her after the fact, then it’s 2nd degree. Definitely not manslaughter though.
Look at the color of his skin. He is a SFN. She repeatedly rejected him. America would not have this problem if Lincoln would have sent all the NAGGERS back to africa when they were set free so they could continue to dance around a fire with a spear like they did when they set buildings and cars on fire in Minneapolis all over one stupid dope smoking nagger.
Abraham Lincoln was the original RINO!!!
Let’s go Brandon!!!
TRUMP ‘24!!!
People that are “nice to everyone” sometimes run across someone that misinterprets this that the person wanting to be with them. He continued to ask her our thinking she liked him. She probably made everyone feel better when they were around her. He wanted that good feeling more often. I have heard that 90% of men cannot acquire their love interest. A few of them get violent with frustration. The answer is a better home-life that helps them to know how to make friends and get that good feeling more often. So I am in favor of anything that keeps a good father in the home to teach sons how to be likeable. However the fathers are in trouble themselves. So how can we resolve this situation?
Today is different from when i grew up. When i was in school and students got out of line the teacher took them to the bathroom and paddled their asses . Students learned RESPECT and people respected each other wishes. When a women turned me down i moved on. I have been married to the same woman for 29 years and our children are on their own . There was not alot of crime like there is today, people getting killed over simple things, women getting raped and some guys don’t want to accept responsibility for getting a woman pregnant. The world is going to the crapper. Society is destroying itself.
