A former Alabama high school teacher and coach who resigned after being arrested for having sex with a student is now married to his victim.
Thomas Black Tucker, 25, asked the court to lift the restriction barring him from seeing the student this week.
The filing included a wedding certificate stating the pair were married on Nov. 6.
Tucker was a teacher at East Limestone High School in northern Alabama when he was arrested on Sept. 17 and charged with being a school employee who engaged in a sex act with a student younger than 19.
However, Tucker was released on a $30,000 bond with the condition that he have no contact with the victim.
The Limestone County School Board accepted Tucker’s resignation a month later.
It has not been clarified if the victim was still a student at East Limestone when Tucker was arrested. The court is set to evaluate his petition at a hearing on Dec. 6.
Tucker’s arrest was the second sex charge filed against a district employee in the past few months.
Jason Roger Emerson, an instructor at Limestone County Tech School, was indicted in August for the felony sex offense of groping a 17-year-old student. Emerson, 49, was fired in July and turned himself in on Aug. 23. He was released $10,000 bond and is awaiting trial.
