Tucker Carlson decided to finally speak out and break his silence for the first time after Fox News announced his abrupt departure from their network.
“One of the first things you realize, when you step outside the noise for a few days, is how many genuinely nice people there are,” Carlson said in a two-minute video statement shared Wednesday on Twitter.
While he did not address his departure or name the network directly, he stated that it has been “heartening” to learn about the “genuinely nice people there are in this country.”
“The other thing you notice when you take a little time off is how unbelievably stupid most of the debates on television are,” he continued. “They’re completely irrelevant. They mean nothing. In five years, we won’t even remember we had them. Trust me as someone who has participated in them.”
Carlson went on to express that issues such as civil liberties, emerging science, demographic change, natural resources, war, and corporate power have not received a “legitimate debate.”
“It’s been a long time, and things like that are not permitted in American media,” he added, expressing that “the people in charge” are “hysterical and aggressive.”
He closed the video with an ominous message: “True things prevail. Where can you still find Americans saying true things?”
“There aren’t many places left, but there are some. And that’s enough. As long as you can hear the words, there is hope. See you soon.”
Carlson joined the Fox News network in 2009 and made his last appearance on April 21, 2023.
“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,” announced FOX in a statement on Apr. 24. “We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”
However, Carlson’s departure has definitely left many viewers curious and wondering what was the real reasoning behind the split between the right-wing media personality and the conservative network.
There have been signs of tension between Carlson and the network in recent months, due to a $1.6 billion lawsuit (brought against them by voting equipment company Dominion Voting Systems) and settled for $787.5 million.
In addition to privately complaining about Donald Trump, even as he publicly courted his supporters, Carlson’s text messages show that he lambasted Fox’s management after the network accurately called the 2020 election in favor of Joe Biden.
“Do the executives understand how much trust and credibility we’ve lost with our audience? We’re playing with fire, for real,” Carlson wrote in one message to fellow employees in the days following the election.
In another text exchange with fellow Fox News personalities Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, Carlson called the network’s news department “pathetic,” writing that it had “destroyed a brand that took 25 years to build and the damage is incalculable.”
I can’t stand to watch Fox News after they were complicit in the massive voter fraud that viciously stole President Trump’s victory in the 2020 election! In my opinion, Fox News is even worse than CNN and MSNBC. And those networks are basically just 24 hr propaganda machines for the socialist elites! It’s time to take back America, people! Support President Trump in ‘024!!!
Fox News stinks. Way too many unattractive female anchors & correspondents. Plus Fox News is covering up the massive voter fraud that occurred during the 2020 Presidential election. I’ll never watch Fox News again after how unfairly they treated President Trump. Shameful!
