A shocking car crash left neighbors and homeowners stunned after a Pennsylvania man intentionally drove his car into someone’s house.
The man found himself going airborne and ended up wedging his car in the roof and second floor of the home.
The incident occurred on Alfrata Road in Decatur Township, Mifflin County, at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Sunday.
Driver Evan Miller, 20, drove the vehicle off the road and into the home on purpose, according to the police report.
“It was determined through investigation that the crash was an intentional act,” Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.
In photos circulating on Facebook, you can see the crashed car with its back two wheels hanging off the roof over the front porch, while its crushed hood is partially broken through the top floor bedroom.
Joan Lepley, who lives at the home, said, “I was visiting my cousins nearby when we heard the crash and commotion outside the home. I remember hearing someone say ‘there’s a man on your roof inside a car’ and thinking did I just hear that right.”
“I guess the car veered off the road and collided with the embankment outside of my house. This made him propel up into the air and land onto my front porch,” added Lepley. “We thank the Lord that he hit the second story. Because if he would have come through at the ground level, I believe my cousins and I would have been killed.”
“Removing the vehicle from the home took about two hours,” authorities said. “A gaping hole was left in the top corner of the house after the car was removed.”
Emergency crews stabilized the building so that it wouldn’t collapse and helped the homeowners cover the hole with a tarp to prepare for incoming storms.
Luckily the family inside the home escaped with no injuries. However, the driver was taken to Geisinger Lewistown hospital after exiting the vehicle.
Following the crash, Miller was charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, careless driving, criminal mischief and other charges.
