A 16-year old girl in Nebraska is facing murder charges after allegations were made that she killed her own baby.
The teen gave birth to her baby on November 6 and the infant was later found dead inside her bedroom.
The girl’s father placed the 911 call and reported that the infant was not breathing and had been stillborn.
When authorities arrived at the home, they discovered the girl and her mother was holding the infant wrapped up inside a towel.
The teenager’s mother told authorities, “She hurt him”, when the questioned the family what had taken place.
The mother told an officer, “I found blood on the walls and floor of my daughter’s bedroom while she was not at home. When my daughter came back home, she told me my grandchild was dead and that she killed the baby.”
The teen girl’s father claims he found the baby in his daughter’s closet, covered with clothes inside a dog food bag. He tried to save the infant by performing CPR before he called 911.
According to the police report, one of the responding officers saw multiple stab wounds on the infant and its throat had been cut. The teenager had taken a knife from the kitchen of her home in Gordon, Nebraska. The knife was later found in her closet.
“When the teenager returned home, she admitted to having killed the baby,” an officer stated. “The girl had to be treated at a hospital and underwent surgery following her encounter with us at her home.”
On Nov. 9, she was arraigned on charges including first-degree murder and the use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.
