Las Vegas Police Department is investigating a murder-suicide after a man killed a woman and her two daughters before fatally taking his own life.
Las Vegas police officers were called to an apartment in the 7500 block of Oso Blanca Road on Dec. 11 at around 10:03 a.m. and found five people suffering from gunshot wounds.
When officers arrived at the scene they discovered two adults and two children already deceased. A third child was rushed to UMC Trauma and the child’s condition is still unknown.
“Through the course of the investigation, LVMPD Homicide detectives determined that an adult male shot a woman, three juveniles and then himself,” states a police press release.
The Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner confirmed the homicide victims as Schinara Patterson, 34, Ki’Ziah Cone, 14, and Zi’Myra Patterson, 6.
Schinara and Ki’Ziah were shot multiple times in the head, according to the coroner. Zi’Myra suffered a single gunshot wound to the head.
Marvin Ray Patterson, 42, died from a contact gunshot wound to the head. His manner of death was ruled a suicide.
Court documents cite that a marriage license was issued for Schinara and Marvin Ray Patterson on May 5, 2019.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover funeral expenses for the victims. On the page, Schinara’s sister Micheala Bernoudy identified the child victims as Schinara’s children.
Patterson was charged with five counts of lewdness with a child under the age of 14, two counts of sexual assault with a minor under 16 years of age, one count of lewdness with a child under the age of 16, and one count of first-degree kidnapping of a minor.
According to police reports the abuse took place between 2013 and 2022.
“She was there no matter who you were, how long she knew you, if she had it, she would give it to you,” Bernoudy said. “Zi’Myra, she was sweet she didn’t have a mean bone in her body. Ki’Ziah was goofy, she loved to draw.”
