A male nurse in California has been arrested by authorities after being accused of sexually assaulting a female patient.
According to the Riverside Police Department, they began investigating the alleged incident after the patient reported that a Jacob Daniel Hartman, 27, sexually assaulted her.
The altercation occurred when the patient was being seen at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Riverside in mid-January.
“Given the nature of these crimes, Sexual Assault-Child Abuse Unit Detectives believe there may be other victims who have not come forward yet,” states a Riverside Police Department press release.
Hartman is facing sexual assault charges that include battery of an unconscious person.
He is no longer employed at Kaiser Permanente, according to a hospital spokesperson.
“At Kaiser Permanente, safe and high-quality care are always our top priorities,” according to a statement from the medical facility. “As soon as we learned of this serious accusation, we immediately cooperated with law enforcement and stated an internal investigation.”
Hartman was arrested last week and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center. He has since been released on $55,000 bail.
