Georgia police have identified Tamanika Woods as the mom of 4 children, who was fatally shot near a McDonalds in Southwest Atlanta.
Authorities reported that the altercation took place around 3 p.m. at 1166 Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old T’Niya Evans on Thursday, and Woods, 30, were involved in an argument that ended with gunfire.
Atlanta Police Lt. Germain Dearlove confirmed, “The motive appears to be an escalating dispute between customers.”
Despite investigators not clarifying if the shooting took place inside or outside the fast-food restaurant, they did add that the suspect was apprehended by bystanders until the officers arrived at the scene.
Woods was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition where she died.
As for Evans, she has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and theft by receiving stolen property.
Evans was booked into Fulton County Jail and is slated to make her first court appearance on Friday.
A female friend close to Woods said, “My heart was definitely broken and so saddened by the news of her death. I still can’t understand what the motive was behind killing my friend.”
“I never would’ve seen this happening,” she said, sharing how she’ll remember her friend as a loving family-oriented woman.
“She’s a very humble, sweet-spirited young lady,” she continued. “Every time I saw her, it was nothing but good times and good memories. She’s loved by a lot of people and I hate this situation happened to her. She will be truly missed.”
