A 5-year old girl in Kentucky was found and thankfully safe from any harm after an Amber Alert was issued for her disappearance.
Less than 24 hours after Kentucky State Police declared Lela Black as missing, police confirmed in a post on social media platform X, that the little girl had been found safely.
Lela had been taken by her biological father, Byron Black, 42, who was arrested for the death of Lela’s mother, Kelly Black, also 42-years old.
After being called to the home for a wellness check, authorities found Kelly’s deceased body at her home in Princeton, Kentucky.
Police immediately suspected her death was a murder case, which prompted an investigation that resulted in an arrest warrant for her husband, Byron.
Authorities claimed Byron had fled the scene prior to officers arriving at the home and finding Kelly unresponsive and pronounced deceased from a gunshot wound to the back of her head.
In the initial Amber Alert shared on the Kentucky State Police’s official Facebook page on Monday, authorities said Lela was believed to be with her father and he was suspected to be “armed and dangerous.”
Prior to the issuing of the Amber Alert, Byron and Lela had not been heard from since Jan. 26.
