A woman in New York City was arrested by authorities after they found human remains inside her Brooklyn apartment.
The NYPD reported that on Monday a man’s dead corpse was found inside an apartment on Nostrand Avenue. The discovery was made after authorities received a tip-off, leading them to search the apartment and discover the body parts, including a severed head inside a taped refrigerator.
Heather Stines, 45, who lived in the apartment, was arrested in connection with the discovery. Police say Stines is charged with concealment of a human corpse.
The NYPD claim the case is under investigation and is being deemed a homicide case. Investigators identified the body as that of Kawsheen Gelzer.
Stines’ neighbor in the building, Germaine Roberts, said, “She was saying, ‘Oh my God I’m going to jail.’ They wouldn’t let her in the apartment.”
Stines has a history of crime and is wanted on several counts of larceny.
It is not immediately clear if Stines has retained an attorney or entered a plea, but according to jail records, her next court appearance is Tuesday.
