A Texas home hospice service owner has been accused of falsifying a do-not-resuscitate form, according to the Plano Police Department.
Pamela Ekor-Tarh Eyambe, 60, was charged with tampering with physical evidence after an investigation into the death of a person being cared for by her Peaceful Touch Hospice & Palliative Care led to the discovery of the “falsified” DNR form, police said.
The alleged sham resuscitation document is not related to the patient whose death was initially being investigated, and police said they are doing an in-depth probe to find out if there are more fake DNR forms.
“You have to look at the big picture for us, is there or are there any patient under the care of this company that lost their life and they should have had life-saving measures,” said Plano police spokesman Officer Andrae Smith.
Eyambe, who is a nurse, was arrested Thursday on the charges and has since bonded out of jail.
She has not returned a request for comment from The Post, but a woman who identified herself as Eyambe’s daughter said her mother is innocent and that the police investigation is racially motivated.
A lawyer for the hospice facility did not respond to The Post’s request for comment. Police did not say exactly how the form was falsified.
Eyambe is associated with at least six other health care facilities as an owner, director or president throughout Texas, according to a public records search.
“The point is to spur that interest that if anyone was under (Peaceful Touch Hospice) care and there was something suspicious about their loved one’s death, we want to go back and revisit that and even take a look if there were any documents on file and we will go check the authenticity of those documents as well,” said Smith.
It’s a shame that so many elderly are mistreated in nursing homes and hospice care centers. I personally used to attend nursing home visits with my grandmother when I was a kid. She was a beautician and would take care of their haircuts and other salon services.
So many times did I see people here and there at different homes being yelled at or manhandled roughly by staff members.I even saw a staff member trying to pocket one of the patients pain medication. It was truly sad to see and witness.
Skin color says a lot about whether innocent or guilty………
Sure does … if your black, your always innocent no matter what the charge.
Well if it wasn’t for all us racists then she wouldn’t have been caught, oh I mean falsely accused! Damn racists! (Sarcasm) 🙃
That is one nasty looking nappy head.
