The COO of Beyond Meat was arrested over the weekend for vehemently biting a man’s nose during an altercation.
Douglas Ramsey, 53, was arrested by University of Arkansas police officers and booked at Washington County Jail on Saturday.
Ramsey has been charged with terroristic threatening and third-degree battery.
He is scheduled to appear in Washington County Circuit Court and Fayetteville District Court for each charge on Oct. 19 and Oct. 20.
Before Ramsey was released on Sunday morning, he was held on a $10,000 bond for the terroristic threatening charge and $1,085 for the battery charge.
Police were called to a parking garage at Razorback Stadium after a University of Arkansas game around 10 p.m.
When an officer arrived at Gate 15, he discovered two men with bloody faces. After talking with the two men as well as a bystander, the officer concluded that Ramsey was trying to leave the parking garage in his Bronco when a Subaru inched it’s way ahead of Ramsey’s SUV and hit the front right tire.
Ramsey exited his car after the collision and punched through the back windshield of the Subaru, causing the driver to exit his vehicle as well.
Ramsey then pulled the other man in close and started punching his body before he bit the man’s nose, ripping the flesh off the tip of the nose.
The driver and witnesses told police that Ramsey threatened to kill the other man. Occupants of both vehicles got out and separated the two men.
Police took Ramsey into custody at around 10:27 p.m.
Ramsey spent more than 30 years at Springdale, Arkansas-based Tyson Foods before joining Beyond Meat as chief operating officer late last year. He held top leadership positions at Tyson, including president of its poultry division and president of its global McDonald’s business.
At Beyond Meat, he has guided partnerships with fast food companies including McDonald’s, Panda Express and KFC.
Beyond Meat said Tuesday it has suspended Ramsey indefinitely.
Beyond Meat said Jonathan Nelson, its senior vice president for manufacturing operations, will oversee the company’s operations on an interim basis.
