After what has been a harrowing search for over two months, the body of Jolissa Fuentes was discovered after she went missing.
Fuentes, 22, was finally found at a crash scene at the foot of a 400-foot cliff in a rural area of Fresno County north of Pine Flat Lake.
“Authorities found evidence hat Fuentes’ car had run off a road,” Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims said at a press conference.
Fuentes’ family reported her missing on Aug. 7 after she went home from a family gathering before dawn to collect some belongings. She was last seen leaving a convenience store while driving a 2011 silver Hyundai Accent, which was found at the scene.
Mims said, “We have yet to determine what caused the crash, but we believe Fuentes was most likely tired after being up throughout the night.”
Police had previously searched the area where Fuentes was found. However, a dense brush hindered their efforts. Search and rescue teams had to rappel down over 400 feet to recover Fuentes’ body Monday night.
Fuentes’ parents, Norma Nunez and Joey Fuentes, fought back tears as they stood beside law enforcement at Tuesday’s press conference, thanking local officers and the public for their support and helping locate their daughter.
“I want to thank the community, not just the community, this whole nation. The cries and the pain of my wife and my sisters and my family was heard around this whole country,” Joey said through sobs.
Law enforcement agencies, with the help of family members, had scoured an area west of Selma in Fresno County in their desperate search, which included the use of drones.
Officers flew helicopters and spent hours in off-road vehicles driving around the Pine Flat area before Fuentes was finally found.
Independent divers Adventures With Purpose even joined the search. The same group helped find the body of 16-year-old Kiely Rodni in a Northern California reservoir earlier this month.
Results of a bad driver!
YOU ARE SUCH A ASSHOLE, THESE PEOPLE JUST LOST THEIR DAUGHTER AND ALL YOU COULD SAY WITH YOU STUPID ASS IS RESULTS OF A BAD DRIVER, I PRAY TO GOD THAT NOTHING LIKE THIS EVER HAPPENS TO SOMEONE IN YOUR FAMILY AND THEN I WOULD LIKE TO SEE WHAT YOU WOULD SAY IF THEY SAID THE SAME THING YOU DID.
HEY THERESA, do you need to be satisfied with some dick to settle down. You should know what caps lock is by now.
Serious guy,are you that cold hearted? I’m not even going to ask how old you are, cause I’m willing to bet your a teenager.
My prayers will definitely go out to the family, and to those that spent so much time in searching for this child. May God bless the family and give then strength.
The law has no excuse for bad driving. This happens all the time. SLOW THE HELL DOWN. If anyone is traveling at night or traveling in an unfamiliar area and you do not know where you are going and you have a phone, use your BRAIN and pull over , get on your SMART PHONE and pull up a map of the area that you are traveling in. I highly suspect (((((IGNORANCE ))))) on the drivers part. It seems like our younger generation is getting more stupid by the year. Some of our younger generation claim to be smart and claim to know everything just by taking college courses online . They get a college degree by reading a book and they want to tell you how to do your job better when they have never done the job that you have been doing for several years. Just wondering where the smarts will be in the year 2100.
Vaxxacident???? Ummmm…
Prayers for her family. This is a sad time for them.
This is not related to this article. At national parks, people have crossed barriers at state parks that state on a sign in plain english writing, WARNING , do not cross this barrier. Stupid people that apparently cannot read go across the barrier to take a picture, lean forward with their phone and fall off the cliff and their remains are recovered , all over a picture.
My deepest condolences 💐 to her parents and family. May Hod comfort there hearts. 🙏🏼
