A West Virginia woman finally emerged from her two year coma, only to name her brother as the attacker.
Wanda Palmer had been savagely bludgeoned in the head with a machete or hatchet at her Cottageville home in June 2020.
“When we got there, to be honest we thought she was dead,” Jackson County Sherriff Ross Mellenger said.
Detectives claimed they had not been able to identify her assailant and were completely shocked when they got a call from Palmer’s care facility last week saying that the victim had regained consciousness. To hear that she was finally awake was a miracle to the detectives who had worked on her case.
“We had a little bit of an idea what happened, but the problem was with the nuts and bolts of the case we had nothing to go on. There was no eye witnesses, nobody lived in the home, no surveillance footage, no cellphone records. There was virtually nothing there to move forward on,” Mellenger said.
Despite suffering severe brain damage, Palmer could still communicate with detectives and told them her brother Daniel Palmer was the man who attacked her and hit her till she was comatose.
“The keys to the whole thing lay with the victim herself and with her unable to communicate we were left with nothing. Now low and behold two years later and boom, she’s awake and able to tell us exactly what happened,” Mellenger said.
Daniel Palmer was reportedly arrested for attempted murder and malicious wounding.
This man is a disgusting pig. Even though she survived, he should fry.
That;s a shame that this guy won;t be voting for Biden. Typical Democrat coward.
Times SURE have changed… and not for the better.
I respect GOOD and honest cops … BUT! when the cop interviewed for this article stated,
“We had a little bit of an idea what happened, but the problem was with the nuts and bolts of the case we had nothing to go on. There was no eye witnesses, nobody lived in the home, no surveillance footage, no cellphone records. There was virtually nothing there to move forward on,” Mellenger said.”
Well, I just shook my head a little. I shook my head in disbelieve bc I was thinking to myself..
‘Damn, if this cop says they “couldn’t move forward in any way bc there was no surveillance cameras or cell phone records … no eyewitnesses”. What?
I mean, murders and assaults have been happening since the beginning of time, ok?
We only recently came into surveillance cameras and cell phone records… And many many times there is no eyewitnesses… How did cop solve cases BEFORE the invention of surveillance cameras or cell phone records? Obviously they were doing it for a very long time before the invention of these things. Therefore, that tells me a lot. It tells me that police have lost a lot of their tactical training and their edge … for solving cases without the aid or luxury of a surveillance camera footage or cell phone records, which is pretty damn sad. And, it explains a lot. Like WHY more cases aren’t solved these days.
