A 15-year old boy from Maine is facing charges after his 14-year old girlfriend’s mother found her daughter dead in their home.
Aidan Grant was arrested on Saturday morning and charged with murder in the death of Brooke McLaughlin.
The girl’s mother, Rebecca ‘Becky’ McLaughlin, found her at their home at 25 Blackberry Road in Maine on the evening of July 18.
Brooke’s cause of death has been withheld by a chief medical examiner at the request of the attorney general.
Grant is incarcerated at the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland until his next court appearance on Sept. 14.
Grant entered a denial plea during his appearance Monday afternoon. In a juvenile case, this is equivalent to an adult entering a not guilty plea.
Grant’s Facebook profile shows he was in a relationship with Brooke since February 13.
His profile photo has the two of them kissing with a firework in the background. “My everything,” Grant wrote in the caption of a picture along with a heart emoji.
A red Chevy Impala was missing at the time of the incident and authorities found the vehicle the next day in Wayne, the town where Grant resides.
Brooke was going into eighth grade at Maranacook Middle School. She was a kind, loving, very thoughtful, big hearted, strong person who loved her family and friends, her obituary states.
Brooke’s mother called for justice for her daughter’s death in a Facebook post on Saturday.
“I love you my beautiful angel… fly high baby girl… my heart is broken but I’m trying my hardest Brooke Mclaughlin… mom loves you forever and justice will be served… you will always be mom’s everything… #justiceforBrooke,” the mother wrote, and attached a video of her singing Dancing in the Sky.
Maranacook schools Superintendent Jay Charette announced Brooke’s death to the community on Thursday.
“Although we don’t know the circumstances of this tragic event we are working with various agencies to offer our support in a timely and appropriately sensitive manner to our students and staff given the nature of this tragedy,” stated Charette.
Blame the Liberal School system and their teachings of sex, contraceptives, and other things. 14 and 15 are still babies and to young to be dating. They want kids to grow up to fast today and that isn’t good. Watch for kids as young as 6 experimenting with sex not being aware of how dangerous it is. We have to get this crap out of schools and let parents tell their kids about sex, they know better when they are ready to be told. Teachers should stick to teaching academics not sex, trans, gender ID or anything else about sex. Young people love to try out stuff including sex.
Settle down mary, grade 9 kids were having sex in the 90s…at least everyone i grew up with was.
Not sure id blame teachers or sex ed that started in grade 8 as much as id blame the huge porn boom in the 90s and the fact every kid i knew had access to an illegal pay per view box on a tv at home.
