A 14-year old girl almost lost her life after being shot in the back of the head by a neighbor who spotted her playing hide-n-seek in his backyard.
The teen miraculously suffered non-life-threatening injuries despite being shot.
Louisiana homeowner David V. Doyle, 58, claims the incident took place on Sunday. Doyle said, “I went inside my home to retrieve my firearm after I saw shadows outside my home.”
After police further investigated the situation, it was found that multiple individuals were playing on Doyle’s property when the incident took place.
Doyle spoke with detectives and stated he unknowingly hit the unidentified teen after he began shooting at the individuals when they were running off his property.
After CPSO officials responded to the scene and identified the teenager’s wound, she was transported to an out-of-town hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
While the incident remains under investigation, Doyle has been arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and has been charged with aggravated battery, illegal discharge of a firearm, and four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm. His bond remains pending.
